I don't think Peruvians hate Chileans but there is some anger over the War of the Pacific. Chile took land from Peru and (according to the Peruvians) promised to return it and never did. The Bolivians feel even more strongly about the issue than the Peruvians.
It's not hate, really. Nor has it got to do with the economical status of Chile.
As far as I know, Peru is still a bit angry with Chile for taking part of their land during the war of the pacific from 1879 to 1883.
The Bolivians are even angrier about this war as they where attacked from behind (only cowards do that) by the Chilean army (although it was highly possible that the Bolivians where drunk out of their skulls while being attacked) and lost their connection to the sea! Arica, now the Northernmost part of Chile and the border with Peru, used to be the port of Bolivia from where they'd ship the silver from the mines in Potosí (the silver of Cerro Rico).
Peru on its turn lost a few islands with "guano" (one of the main export products, used for fertilizer) to Chile. The only (or best known) islands in Peru where they still have guano are the Islas Ballestas (Ballestas Islands).
That's probably the reason. Although there may be one more: Pisco.
Peru has a national drink called Pisco (there′s even a place called Pisco which can be found near the port to the Islas Ballestas and the city of Ica and Huacachina). But Chile promotes it as it is their national drink. So Peru made Pisco Sour (a new national drink), and Chile does the same and says: here, this is our national drink!
Don't know if this is true, but it seems more logical to me that Pisco (Sour) was invented in Peru and not in Chile.
Hope this answer helps you understand. I don′'t know if it's true, they're all speculations, but it may be (close to) the truth.
Well asker, you are a fool :) You'll find that when you steal ideas, keep our lands, and claim them as your own,and agree to something and do whatever you ******* want PEOPLE ******* GET PISSED, and that my foolish friend, is why Peruvians generally dislike Chileans. It's not that we hate you guys, I don't generalize, what I do dislike however, is your type of people savvy.
No, es solo Jaime Baily.
Due to their history. Naval wars, border disputes, etc. etc.
I mean, I'm a Chilean-American, I was born in New York and lived here for almost all my life, but all my family is Chilean (except for my dad's family, so my face is 70% American and 10% Chilean), but I've known for some time that Peruvians somehow hate Chile (I think it's because Chileans are better and more developed than them), but I just don't understand that much hate, it's like they envy them
