I live in Central America. Every country in Central America has things that are worth visiting. From the canal to volcanoes in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, to the white sand beaches and water sports of northern Honduras and the Bay Islands, to the Mayan ruins in Honduras, Guatemala and Belize, to the black sand beaches and surfing in El Salvador. Spend a bit of time on line searching each country you plan to visit and you will find dozens of attractions you won't want to miss.
Big Rome, please go back to your big feet and soccer and stay out of discussions about which you obviously know nothing.
Caye Caulker in Belize
Antigua, Tikal, and Livingston in Guatemala
Leon in Nicaragua
Copan in Honduras
My husband has visited El Salvador on a missions trip. Extremely poor country. But he said their black sand beaches are amazing. They have a lot of tourists for surfing because of them. It wouldn't hurt to help out at a community. Central America in general is a pretty less-fortunate country and the people are EXTREMELY appreciative of any little deed.
oh you better be careful..central america is a VERY dangerous place. people get raped, killed, abducted there. dont even think about going through rural central america..thousands of immigrants get killed there by gangsters, drug dealers, and the police

My friend and I are going backpacking through Central America. We are flying into Panama City, Panama at the end of July and backpacking up through Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala and ending in Belize three weeks later.
We are not really planning much before hand, so I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with any cool spots to visit in any of the Central American countries.
Thanks!
