Trust me, it's very cheap, and worth it all.
About the mountains, If you speak spanish, you may have any trouble to travel by yourself, but if you don't I suggest you get a tourist guide, I'm a peruvian and speak fluent spanish but even with all that, there are many things I don't know about the mountains, like, nice places to stay, the prices, the safe areas, and many etc.
Good luck and have a nice trip, friend.
Hi, the best answer I can give you is to read about and look at the photos of the dozens of places I have visited in Peru, then you can make up your mind. There is stuff to see all over Peru, north, south, everywhere. http://www.southamericanpostcard.com/per...
remember to drive to puno. taking a plane will be to quick for your body to get use to the high altitude. so i would drive.
meet up with some Shining Path people .
I want to see a good bit of Peru, I have one month. I was thinking about first flying from Lima to Iquitos. Then, back to Lima and from there head south and see a lot of cities there. Does that sound like a good idea? I want to see a lot a natural beauty, but I won't have a car. I don't want to miss the great things, although I know you can't see everything. Also, I would like to be in Puno at the end of the month so I can go to Bolivia. Is there more north of Lima to see that is accessible by bus, or am I best heading south?
