p.s. I'm traveling by greyhound bus
Thank you!!:)
Yes, Greyhound allows anyone 15 years of age and older to travel unaccompanied. That's not a guess, it's written in their policy which you can find on their website.
As far as missing school goes, you WILL need permission from a parent, even if it is "only" for a day. Isn't school done in June anyway? Can you bus up and fly home, or vice versa? Sometimes, if planned properly and using a discount carrier such as southwest, a one way plane fare might be found for roughly the same as the $109 it costs to take a bus between these two cities. So, have you looked at southwest's low fare calendar?
Good luck if you still decide to take the bus. The bus costs about $110 each way, only if you purchase using a web-only discount. Since you are not old enough to have a credit card, you would need to try to select a pay by cash option, which would have you pick up the reservation at a participating 7-eleven within 48 hours of making the reservation. If you try to pay using someone else's credit card, you must pay the stupidity taxes which you should really try to avoid because it's Greyhound's way of exploiting your situation. There are a few buses a day and you should choose one that is scheduled to take the least amount of time with the least amount of forced transfers. The trip takes anywhere from 24 to 30 hours.
On a trip of that length, Amtrak is much more comfortable, but there is only one trip per day. Amtrak normally charges about $169 to $206 for such a trip, which takes 27 hours. If you e-mail me, I could arrange to get you a discounted one way train reservation for $110 which is the exact same that the discounted web fare for the bus costs. However, such bus tickets are hard to come by anyway, because you must qualify for them with a credit card in your name or the pick-up at 7-eleven in advance.
One great option you should consider is to take the amtrak from Jacksonville to Washington, DC which takes 14 to 15 hours, once a day. Then catch the megabus from DC to Pittsburgh. On both routes, an advance reservation is required, and fares are subject to increase depending on limited seat availability. As of right now, the train portion of that fare is $143 due to its being a holiday weekend, but the following weekend is only $109.
Greyhound has a free Road Rewards program online which you should join. As a member, you will qualify for discounts and vouchers, immediately by redeeming your credits. The more you travel on your Road Rewards number, the more credits you receive for 10% off coupons and free travel vouchers.
As far as I know as long as your not travilling out of the US you should be good. But when you go buy the ticket just make sure. You parents can't really say no because id just do it any way.
no you will go to jail for escaping family custody
