Latin America is the most unequal region in the world, because of this, all suffer from violence in some way or another, I don′t know if you are from the United States, but if you are, you more than likely heard of violence from Mexico, but believe it or not, Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia are more violent (although violence is regional and centralized in several cities, so if you want to go to any of those countries like Brazil, you would have to look for the most peaceful areas).
Mexico is not properly portrayed in Hollywood, ironically the desertic area is among the least populated areas of Mexico, it doesn′t have tan colonial houses anymore, but I wouln′t recomend going to neither Mexico or Colombia since those countries are having a drug war right now.
The three Latin American Nations that are considered the most advanced and influental, are Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, (although Chile is better but since its a small country, its influence is on a minimun), Mexico and Brazil are the most competitive, have the best technology, best infrastructure and have created impressive things that are 100% of those countries (on a third world level), while countries like Argentina and Uruguay have a better quality of life and a human development index, but be warned, the chances of getting a good job are low, because they benefit mostly from agricultural exports, now Chile, these guys have the advantage of Mexico, Brazil mixed with the advantages of Argentina and Uruguay, but it has a low population.
Make your choice.
Hi Charlotte,
there are a few nice towns in Peru like Cusco, but most cities in Peru are kinda ugly including Lima. Also, along the coast the landscape is very ugly, like a desert. There are a number of countries Latin America are way better to re-locate. For example Argentina, Chile or Colombia.
Costa Rica is comfortable and stable. I lived there for a few years. you can pretty much pick and choose your climate, from hot and humid locations, to cool and moderate. the folks at International Living Magazine are continually ranking Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua at the top of their list. We just returned from Ecuador. There are some nice areas, steady climate, food and transportation is cheap. Met a few expats living there in nice homes ranging from $150-$600 month in safe places like Ba?os and Vilcabamba. Did not make it to the coast but hear it is nice. I have read a few articles that say, surprisingly, that Nicaragua is one of the safest countries in Central America, but was told by a former resident that the medical system was not very good. Take some time to visit Costa Rica and Ecuador (outside of Quito). I always recommend renting for a while until you get to know the area.

Brazil is probably the best economically. It has a large population and thus a lot of GDP. It is also going to get a massive injection of money in the next few years due to the World Cup and the Olympics, and that will attract a lot of foreign investment, creating jobs. Rio de Janeiro is probably the destination of choice, with Brasilia probably being the safest due to it being a purpose-built government city with wealthy and educated people.
The Peruvian economy is definitely growing, but I don't think it is the best country to live. That might be Brazil, Chile or Argentina.
lima, peru is great my friend lives there. as for beauty Buenos Aires, Argentina is awesome the economy is not too great currently but that just means your money is worth more. also brazil is amazing and economy is stable

We are thinking about relocating to somewhere like Peru.
But I have not been before, so my question is where is the safest place to visit in Latin/South America with the best economy?
Thanks.
