Another 'old school' traditional free blog host is wordpress.com, wordpress uses the industry standard blog engine but has more upgrade strings.
Try Google blogs.
Wordpress.com is the best. You can export it easily into your own hosted blog when it has grown and you are ready to upgrade. Others will not let you export easily.
