Is that 5 product stand alone product? Do they related to each other? are you in the same niche? There are benefit for putting everything in one domain if the product are similar
However if the 5 product is totally unrelated it is better to have their own site because all those different link might confuse the search engine
If all the other sites except the main, are serving products or services from main domain or in simple words we can say that parent site has several sub domains and each sub domain represents distinct services of parent website then we should consolidate all other 5 domains as sub domain of the main website.
If all these 6 websites are not related to each other then do not attempt to keep them on same IP otherwise all these websites will be penalized by Google.
I would actually come up with one design theme and use it on all of the sites. It will be a little more difficult for you since you will be working with 6 sites instead of 1, but that gives you a great opportunity to retain more positions in the rankings if you are creating content for both sites. In the end, it all comes down to how much time and effort you and the client are willing to put into it. Good Luck.
This really depends on many things including the site structure, content and purposes. What are the other sites used for? Google will suggest having one site but if each site has unique content (niche sites for example) it can make sense to keep them. If they are just being used for a blog network for backlinks it would have to be evaluated.
You can have different websites and a central website (representing the company) but they must be link to each other. In this way, Google will count these website as a network and it will not affect the SEO.
It is best to keep it separate. Don't put all the eggs in one basket :)
I have an SEO job opportunity with a company that has 6 sites. One is the main company site that has links to the other 5 separate company product specific websites. This client would like a re-design on all sites to make the design cohesive across all properties.
My question is should I; with the redesign also suggest that all 6 sites be consolidated to the single parent company site? Or is it better for SEO to keep all sites separate? Thanks!
