Its like living in a desert , hang on it is a desert well 90% of it .
I hate the desert heat , i used to have lawn now its dirt .
Australians like to call their desert "a sunburnt country"
But in reality when explorers seen the land from boat they described it as Barron land , until one day someone noticed a small patch of green on the east coast.
The east had trees until one day they were mowed down to make way for big cities like Sydney Brisbane Adelaide ,
and we are left with buildings and yes the desert.
Rivers are golden brown Yuk!
And Queensland is the cancer capital of the world , so if you do not die of skin cancer you will have horrid skin if you work in the sun.
Dusty dry little towns where everyone escapes the heat of the day inside cool dark bars drinking Foster's. The older men are weathered by a lifetime of sun and drag their nearly as ugly wives to the bar for singsongs, games of knifey-spoony and more Foster's. Most of the young people are fair but with year 'round tans only because of the unrelenting sun. The teen guys have longish hair, wear Bonds tanks and act like skaters but don't skate (because of the dirt roads) and therefore have nothing better to do than to act cocky and p*ss off the old men (who sit on their a**es all day on short wooden stools playing checkers). Middle aged men are unshaven out of shape slobs with most of them being either unsuccessful farmers or eccentric truck drivers. Although the beaches are filled with lifelong surfers, somehow the only good surfers are American.
I'm sure it's a nice country. I imagine it like a more relaxed version of North America. However, it's much too far away. At the moment I can't afford to travel there. And since there are many other places I want to see and I really dislike long-haul flights, I somehow doubt whether I'll ever get there. (You have to make choices.)
KK so this is what I assume from all my aussie friends, news reports, and mad max.
In Aussieland (as I like to say :D ) The teens are horrible, and will beat up old men and hobos for fun, the weather is hot, there are tons of good beaches, the girls can be hot, or very ugly, not in between, and there is the occasional kangaroo.
I feel that it is a very beautiful, bizarre country with deserts, forests, mountains, and coral reefs, however I feel that the human population, or society there, leaves much to be desired, it's incredibly trashy, racist, and backward. Not the sort of place I want to visit for an extended period or raise children in.
