Everyone who goes to a bridal show or certain large bridal shops gets the same call. Trust me. I happened to me and pretty much everyone I know who has shopped at a certain national bridal shop chain or gone to a bridal show. They all sell your information.
You are invited to a high pressure sales presentation for cookware - the cheapest set sells for $1000
Everyone who doesn't buy the expensive pots wins the hotel stay. The problem is, you have to pay a $100 deposit, then taxes and occupancy fees (about $30 per person, per night), then there are surcharges if you want to go on a weekend or during high season, PLUS you have to buy your own plane tickets. You could go to any travel agent and get a flight-hotel package to the same hotel for a lot less than buying your flight then paying the deposit and taxes. Oh, and the hotel they put you in is also a timeshare property and a condition of the stay is that you also have to attend a 90 minute timeshare presentation
And if you buy the pots you get the 2 champagne flutes that are NOT worth $600. Even the most expensive champagne flutes don't cost that much. But since this brand is not sold at retail, only through these demos, there's no way to check the real price as they list them at $600 in their catalog. Christofle Iriana crystal champagne flutes are only $95 each and they are one of the highest end crystal companies in the world
And for the all inclusive trip, for them to advertise this they only have to give away one prize per year - and that's out of the tens of thousands of people who attend their cookware presentations around the country every year.
So unless you have 90 minutes to waste on cookware that's going to cost you $1000+ then don't bother going
And at any bridal fair, give a fake name, fake phone number and fake email or you will be hounded to death by cookware companies, florists, photographers, wedding planners, DJs and everyone else who buys the company's mailing list
One person wins. The prize may be a Free hotel but you have to buy the Plane ride from them. They charge high air fair.
It is not a scam but the prize is not as good as it sounds. They are trying to sell you things.
DO NOT SIGN anything. The details are at the bottom or on the back. Do not go hoping for a FREE vacation.
A $300 Champagne glass?
I know two people who fell for this. I tried to tell them it was a high pressure sales gimmick. Once they have you in that room, they will do everything they can to get you to purchase their products. It is not a nice vacation or process, but if you don't mind saying no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no . . . for four hours and then saying no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and no again, just to get out of there with your dignity in tact, then no, its not a scam. But just know, if you are not full of money and have a strong sense of self worth, then by all means go! It will simply stiffen your back bone and you will never ever forget the experience.
well that is one of the oldest tricks in the sales marketing manual
like oh your phone number is tonight's lucky winner of 3 free tickets to arthur murray school of dancing is an oldie but a good example... also the time share people who do the oh you won a free trip to blah blah just come and watch our presentation oh right... lucky if you get out the door when the sales people know all the techniques like the oh if you sign tonight you get a blah blah
be warned the sales people obviously know all the tricks so ...!!!
Yes it is. They are going to try to sell you something when you are there.
