Unwritten Novel, what you describe, there is one place that comes to mind, I have also worked there, but it isn't cheap, but salaries are relative to the cost of living, that would be Australia, more like the east coast.
I can assure you, it is very safe. Very strict when it comes to the Immigration process, they are really screening, and their gun laws are very strict, it's almost impossible to own a gun, and get caught carrying a weapon like a knife, they will come down on you with the full force of the law.
Your biggest problem will be finding a country that allows you to emigrate. Most countries these days have very strict criteria that is difficult to meet unless you have very good job skills.
Make a list of the English-speaking countries that interest you and then check out their Embassy websites for information for prospective migrants.
