Rental application?

It doesn't matter how old you are if you are going to live in an apartment you have to fill out a lease. EVERYONE on the lease is held responsible for any damage and for rent. YOU become responsible for rent even if the others don't pay. If the landlord doesn't receive the full amount of rent each month you ALL could be evicted.

If only one is on the lease then only one will live there. The others can't move into the landlords property without approval.

If a group came in and told me that only one of them could actually afford the rent, I'd tell them all to take a hike and save the time. A landlord decides who lives on their property, period, and they have the right to know the history of those before entering into a contract with them.

I insist upon a rental application and credit check for all prospective tenants. I gladly apply the application cost to the first month's rent if the tenant moves in. I am still out the cost of said credit check which is not refunded to applicants.

Landlords truly hate renting to groups of unmarried people because when one person moves out, the remaining tenant(s) get stuck with a situation they cannot afford or may not be on the lease.

Well that way they get more money duh. Also in case something were to happen...property gets damaged or you guys bail out and move without telling anyone they will bill whoever is on the lease and have collection agencies calling you 24/7

Because they don't want that one person to move out and leave the deadbeats in thehouse.

because this landlord requires it

Going to rent a property they want everyone to fill out an application which cost $35.

Why does anyone over 18 years old need to fill out an application and go through a credit check? Even though only one person can afford it and is going to be the only one on the lease.
