Living in an apartment, but not on the lease?

The address on your drivers license legally must be the same as where you live, but it has nothing to do with the legality of your tenancy with your grandparents. And since you have no contract with the landlord, there isn't anything that could come back to haunt you, especially if the Landlord is aware you are staying with the grandparents.

All that aside you, should also be aware that if your prospective landlord asks for your rental history, including the Grandparents isn't appropriate, and including their landlord a very bad idea since you never paid rent to that person. Also when you do secure a new apartment you will be expected to report your change or address to the DMV or get a new license within 30 days in most states.

It isn't illegal. Don't confuse illegal with contract law. If the landlord does not know you are there the all of you can be evicted. If you are essentially being supported by the grandparents have you reported that to Medicaid? You don't want to be guilty of benefits fraud.

You're not breaking any laws as long as the apartment is zoned to hold 4 adults.

However you are likely violating the terms of the lease. Your apartment is using more electricity, water, etc. than you're paying rent for, and your grandparents' rental insurance doesn't cover you and your possessions in the event of an accident.

It's unlikely that anyone will check your ID against the apartment's lease. I'm pretty sure neither is public information.

By you living in the same apartment with your grandparents, you are placing them in a position of being evicted for a lease violation. With them being evicted you and your girlfriend would also be without a place to stay You should not [place your grandparents in such a position.. Most adults would find a place of their own, no matter the difficulty, especially with a pregnant girlfriend.

Though your grandparents would want to help they are at an age where they should no be burden with other people intruding on their life.

It is probably a little stressful on both your girlfriend and your grandparents as I am sure your girlfriend had something different in mind once she became pregnant than living with your grandparents. She has little if any privacy.

If you are concerned about your medial benefits, this might be a question you might bring up with your benefit provider.

I am not sure that you would have to be on a lease to be eligible for certain government benefits.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

"FIGHT ON"

Yes it is basically illegal but not the go to jail kind of illegal. You are breaking landlord tenant law & your grand parents lease. If the landlord finds out you all can be evicted & grand parents can get sued.

Having an address you have no legal right to be in on your drivers license is not illegal.

if only your grandparents are on the lease and you are not then you are in violation of your lease but you're not comitting any crime or medicade fraud.

So this will probably be a long question, but please stick with me, I really need the information. And in advance, I really do appreciate it. So I'm currentpy living in my grandma and grandpas apartment, with my pregnant girlfriend, she's eight months along. In Ohio, by the way. What I was wondering is, Im living in the apartments but we arent on my granma and grandpas lease and the apartments address is on my Drivers Liscence/ID. Im assuming this is probably super illegal, but I want to make sure. My girlfriend and I aren't married, and we are both on medicade. I don't know if this is anything to worry about, but once my car is out of the shop we will start looking for our own apartment, so my second question is, will having the apartments address on my ID,while not on the lease, alcome back to haunt me in any way? Again, I appreciate any help giving, and thanks!
