You can promote your business through google groups but it is not very easy, you have to promote your group to gather a lot of people to be popular in your niche then you can promote your services there.
I don't think you'll get anywhere with google groups. Most folks don't tolerate spammers, and posts with links get deleted quicker than you can blink.
Google plus might be another story - since it's the "social" aspect of google. You might want to look into that.
