This may sound dumb but is the smell of weed prominent in Amsterdam?

I plan on going to Amsterdam next summer but I really hate the smell of weed. I used to smoke a lot of pot but now it triggers panic attacks for me. I was wondering if the smell is only inside the coffee shops or if it’s pretty much all around the city? I will try to avoid it as much as I can but I just want to have some sort of idea on what to expect.

Thanks!

If you walk by a coffee shop, you'll likely smell it. Of course, there are quite a few tourists that smoke it outside as well. I live here and bike everywhere in the city and on some days, it's pretty obvious. That being said, you may not even notice it you're entire trip.

The fact that in some places weed can be had does not mean that all of Amsterdam smells pot. Even so the legal use is limited within the premises and surely there must be sufficient ventilation. So, no worries.

You can smell it outside a coffee shop, but that's the same for any town. It also depends on the shop. I know of one that emitted a pretty strong smell last time I checked. On the other hand, in my own town I don't really smell anything at all at any location.

Thats one if the reasons there are coffeeshops. They smoke inside and not outside the doors. Neither you will find dealers on the streets, because users buy weed in the coffeeshops and smoke it there.

Maybe you smell sum weed in the parks (not much either). Because tourist are chilling out there and smoke.

Only near "coffeeshops"

You are aware that we have those outside Amsterdam too, right?

The ones outside the three southern provinces of the netherlands will serve foreigners too

No, it isn't generally. Only outside of coffeeshops at certain times of the day or night, but that's it.
