want to travel the world but how?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
i'm not sure what i want to be yet when i've finished school and university, but i'd love to travel the world more than anything. especially asia. the thing is, i have no idea how to go about this? what kind of jobs require you to travel?

Oh yes, I soo shared your ideas, a LOOONG time ago.

My dreams were yours. After some "floating", pennyless, I realized I was going nowhere, very fast. Then I decided to continue my education, got a degree and started work in an internationally recognized field, a field that is "the same" everywhere.

(Think Science, engineering, biology, a doctor, a nurse, a language teacher, etc.)

In addition, to make myself employable I dabbled in "foreign languages". There are many to choose from, think French, German, Spanish and Russian - then you will feel far more comfortable in your travel and work assignments. I only speak two of these passably, in addition to English and one more..

The Asian languages may be very important - but are extremely hard to learn for an English speaker. You may never speak well enough to use any of the Asian languages professionally.

Summary - Wish and wish hard and follow the path that will make you universally employable.

Look for work with internationally operating firms; Consulting engineers in any field, large accounting firms, pharmaceutical companies, large engineered product firms, e.g. Electronics giants, locomotive or mining equipment manufacturers, aerospace and their suppliers, international insurance companies, large banks, & so many more.

But, you need to

A. work and make good money.

B. be fluent in some other language(s)

C. be in superb health and not over-weight

Now you can do all of what you wish for, I did.

Asia is super cheap. You can easily work one summer in your country (if you are living in a higher paying country like the US) and then afford to spend one whole summer traveling all around Asia.

I'd save money until I graduated high school and then go during my summer before starting university.

I would never choose a job just because it allows me to travel without first trying traveling for a long period of time (like over a summer even though it's still very different when you are traveling for work instead of fun). Even then, everyone I know who travels as part of their job, has gotten sick of traveling. So if after actually doing some traveling and deciding that a job traveling is really what you want, I'd recommend going in a field where you can travel but have the option of working at home as well.

For example, civil engineers can get jobs abroad but they can also work at home. Civil engineers are having a hard time getting jobs right now though so maybe it's not the right choice (but job outlook should probably improve by the time you graduate).

Well if you're not sure what you want to do with your life anyway, then why not become a flight attendant? Of course the requirements are rather high, but if you make it, it's quite a cool job. One of my friends is a flight attendant, and she told me that she flies to destinations in the entire world except for Australia, and she even gets to choose where she'd like to go.

Most businessmen travel for overseas business deals, mostly japan, europe, etc... if you work with a specific business company, u could be on the traveler's field... like a sales agent, convincing people to buy from your company or outsourcing, etc... watch the movie starring George Clooney called ''Up in the Air"

Start learning either Chinese or Japanese, and then try to get into the airline industry as a flight attendant. The pay isn't great, but you sure do travel.

oh,i want to travel whole world also. but where is my money.

come to China and i Receiving you! Hoho.

marry someone from Asia :S easy as a piece of cake
