Where is your Dream Vacation located?

And write me a little story about it. :)

I do promise I will edit later with mine.

Your turn.... ;)

I'd like to go to London, then board the Orient Express first class with a sleeping car, and go to Venice, then wherever else it goes.

We once took the City of New Orleans train from Chicago to New Orleans and got a sleeping car (actually we got a double sleeping car w/4 beds ) when my son was little, and we ate in the dining car I remember we had rib eye steaks. I loved it. It was so nice sitting in the dining car watching the scenery go by, and then at night falling to sleep in a bed right beside a window and waking up at dawn watching the countryside and then eating breakfast again in the dining car. We almost did this again last year, but my husband changed his mind at the last minute saying it might not be cool enough for him in the sleeping car. He likes the temp to be about 60 degrees! So we rented a car and drove there and back, which was nice because we stopped and stayed in Amish country and then we stayed a few days at Gatlinburg, TN in the beautiful Smokies. I'd also love to go hiking on the Appalachian Trail and camp overnight. Fun and adventurous. We did go on the Appalachian Trail this past time and we were walking so slowly that about 50 people/groups passed us up. hahaha It was like straight uphill, and then I thought going back would be so easy - downhill with the help of gravity - but it was so steep that it was just as hard to keep from falling down the mountain. hahaha

EDIT: Zeb, Hey book 2 more on your dream vacation of driving on the Riviera, and I'll book another sleeping car on the Orient Express and we will have a wonderful vacation - you and your husband, and me and my husband. hahahahhaa Your idea sounds great. :) I know a little French, so you learn a little Italian. hahahaha

Alright, let's dream. :-)

I'd book a flight to Shanghai with Finnair, with a stopover in Helsinki on the way back. If this is a "dream" vacation, I guess the budget isn't too tight, right? Anyway, someone would meet me in Shanghai to take me to my hotel.

The hotel would be next to a subway station, so that I wouldn't have to take a taxi again. I'd spend three days in Shanghai, to lose the jetlag and explore the city. Some nice Chinese students would show me around for an hour or two. I've met them online, and they are happy about an opportunity to practise their English.

Then, I'd take the train to Beijing. (Transfer to the train station, and the ticket for the high-speed train would have been prearranged.) There, I'd check in at a nice hotel near Yashow market. If the train is on time, I'd have four or five hours to write my diary or walk around Beijing. If not, I'd still be in time for the pre-tour briefing.

The next day, I'd leave Beijing again and join a tour to North Korea. We'd see the Friendship Exhibition, the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, the DMZ and lots of other sights. And we'd either join the celebrations for the birthday of Kim Il Sung (April 15), or see the Arirang Mass Games (starting in August). Or actually, there will be a special performance of the Arirang Mass Games on April 16, I think that's a good idea.

And since our group is so well-behaved and the North Korean government wants to show some goodwill to its international tourists, we can see some more sights that are not normally included in the tours. We get to see Kim Il Sung University, and the students there have prepared a little presentation for us. They explain to us what Juche is all about, how the idea has evolved over the years, and what is their vision for the future of North Korea. Their English is almost perfect. The presentation has been very well prepared, it's interesting, and it lasts about half an hour. We also get to tour the premises, and a couple of students come with us and talk to us. We have lunch at the cafeteria, together with the students.

In the evening, we get to eat pizza at this pizza place.

And since the weather is nice, the next day, we get to rent some bicycles and make our own way round Pyongyang.

Alright, but it seems like our time is up now. We make our way back to the Chinese border by train so that we can see Sinuju on our way out. The customs officers are very nice and friendly and wish us a pleasant trip home.

In Beijing, I spend one more night. My hotel has a good business center, so I can make a backup of my photos from the DPRK to the Cloud. That way, I won't have to worry that much about my memory cards.

On the next day, I get a wake-up call and there'll be transit to the airport. On my way back home, I have this stopover in Helsinki (24 hours), and I get to see this wooden church and take some photos of the harbour and of the pedestrian area. Helsinki is a nice place, and maybe one day I'll return to that city.

i know it's pretty cliche, but i'd go snorkeling in the great barrier reef. I've also never been to Europe and would love to tour all of Europe by train

I would like to visit Korea ,Borneo & Vietnam just to see how things have changed since I was there in the wars.

Dubai and Ibiza

I would like to vacation to Mexico to see the underwater caves in Cenotes.
