Of course there are dangerous places but that depends on the country. Argentina, Chile and Uruguay are really peaceful.
Countries like Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador are really dangerous, specially in big cities like Bogota, Medellin, Caracas, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo or Quito.
That doesn't mean all countries are the same. It's like say: 'In the U.S. everybody is crazy and they shoot people everyday'.

South America is beautiful, but dangerous. It is like walking around Detroit or New York City, and not knowing where you are going. It could really cost you. Do your homework thoroughly on this.
dangerous ??...oh come on...life is dangerous !!!...south america is not Africa, is not Afganistan, is not Jordania....Argentina is a lovely Contry, go and visit , you will not regreat.
ive lived in north america my whole life(only 19) and i have went on many trips outside the U.S. but im a major fan of the environment and surviving in the wild and its one of my dreams to live out in the mountains one day away from civilization so what im asking here is
what is south america like?
are there mountains where someone could spend their lives and be secluded peacefully?
i heard the bottom of argentina and chile are beautiful places to live but i have no real knowledge of it
