Tricky questions. Panama does not consider themselves to be part of either Central America or South America. They are an Isthmus. I will still say they are part of the North American Continent.
Regardless of what Panama used to be part of, it (and the canal) is now located on the North American continent.
Because there is no such continent as Central America, and if you do investigate it on your own you will realize that I am telling you the truth, therefore it must pertain to North America.
North America
Central America is not a continent. Central America is part of the North American continent.
The Panamanians don't even agree as to whether the country is in South America or Central America. So there probably people who would say it is the border between Central and South America. Historically and culturally Panama has been part of South America (remember it was part of Columbia for 3 centuries plus).
Central America.
Your accurate response is over here with me. It is: North America
Thanks to Theodore Roosevelt, Panama is now " en el Continente del Norte Americano. " But ask someone in Columbia ( amazing how old hatreds still simmer ), and you may get a different answer.
