The climates greatly vary in Guatemala. The Northern part of Guatemala is mostly jungle. The central part of the country is mountainous, the South has a pacific climate, the east is tropical and there is an area between the city and the port on the East coast called Zacapa which has a desert climate. Each area has different wildlife and different plants. The botanical gardens in Guatemala city have many of the plants located throughout the country. The northern part of guatemala (peten) is pure jungle, and a rainforest environment. The climate and wildlife here varies greatly for instance. If you go to livingston or izabal (northeastern guatemala) has a much dry and carribean feel as if you were in the metropolitan region or guatemala city and surrouning areas, it is very mountainous, many valleys, and volcanos such as volcan de agua and pacaya. Many rivers cross the country mainly southern Guatemala. The thing you should know is that la sierra madre ( a line or group of mountains) cuts guatemala in half going diagonally from northwest to south east. If you as well want to find quetzales (our national bird) it is mainly in coban or near northern guatemala. Many of the cities here were founded by the spanish in valleys back then (antigua and guatemala city are in valleys). Sorry to throw out all this random information! Wrote what came to my mind.
