Where should I travel to?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
I want to go on a spontaneous road trip from Georgia across south of us. I want to stop in New Mexico, California, Nevada, and maybe Utah, Arkansas, Oklahoma, or even Colorado. I know i'll be stopping for The Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and Death Valley but where else should I go? Any other natural wonders? Cool sites to see? Wildlife experiences? I also would love to just go somewhere kind of barren with cactus where nobody else is to photograph and such. Any other ideas? Any apps I can use to find places?

Woman after my heart! If you go west and do the Grand Canyon thing, fine. But take the Northern route back at least, and go through the itty bitty tip of Arizona on your way around Vegas. Avoid that hole, and drive through Zion and Bryce Canyon NPs. Buy your season pass for NPs at Grand Canyon, it lasts for a year. Zion is one way and beautiful. There's a reason it's full of Euro's and Asian tourists, they can't get that there. Same with Bryce BUT, don't forget to stop at the very first scenic turnout, as it is their best! Meander around Canyonlands NP too if you can. Going to that Southern corner of Colorado? Drive the Durango to Ouray highway. Ouray is called America's Switzerland. Don't do it if you're afraid of high roads and mountainy vistas. This beats whatever they have in the north of Colorado.

On your Southern route, should you not take (or even if you do) the GC in, drive the Show Low to Globe, AZ road (or reverse).

Enjoy your drive..

There is always Zion National Park in Utah as well as Yosemite and Redwood National Parks in California. There is also the Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California. This park is interesting because it has some interesting caves, hikes and lakes http://www.everytrail.com/guide/trailspo...

In Southern California, you have the very scenic Joshua Tree National Park. http://www.nps.gov/jotr/index.htm Go to Google Images for more photos of this picturesque park.

As far as wildlife, Most people know that San Diego has the world famous San Diego Zoo but not as many people know about her sister park in Escondido called the San Diego Safari Park (formerly known as the San Diego Wild Animal Park). Both facilities are actively involved in repopulating endangered species. At the zoo, you will see a large variety of animals in enclosures designed to simulate their natural environment. At the Wild Animal Park, you can select a number of safari options to enhance your visit http://sd82.reachlocal.net/.

I am not aware of any phone apps (Although I would not be surprised if there are some) but I do have some other suggestions. 1) Plot your possible courses on a map. Then Google the name of each possible state followed by the words "visitor bureau". You will then find links for each state promoting their "must see" sites and this will allow you to make your choices. 2) If you belong to the Automobile Club (AAA), stop by their office or call their travel center and ask for maps for all states you plan to visit.

I hope that this helped and I wish you all the best!

The answer is: go anywhere the road takes you. If you see something or hear of a place on your way then by all means GO. Don't preplan too much, keep it open. Additionally, take as little as you can. Ideally, only what you can put in your pockets (I will link an article which talks about it more). Another thing I would recommend is that you don't take a camera: it takes away from the moment and you won't remember the event as much. Have fun!

I think you should plan a travel to Vietnam as it is the perfect combination of beautiful places, amazing beaches and natural beauty. I have visited Vietnam twice and trust me it was an awesome travel experience.
