my fiancé and I are gonna take a little long weekend 4-5 day relaxing trip to either cabo, cancun or punta cana.
curious to know your input.... is mexico even safe??
all inclusive or not? my fiancé likes to drink on vacation and have a good time we both like to eat. etc... I however don't really drink anymore. maybe a beer or two or a glass of champagne at a wedding or something but nothing more than that.

Mexico in the touristy areas is pretty safe
All inclusive means you just do what you are told and have no adventure.
I prefer to find my own way around and see and do interesting things myself.
There are quite a few options. I would go with all inclusive as it's the best value and less to worry about. I keep my wallet in the safe the entire trip without worry.
Zoetry is more of a spa/wellness resort but VERY relaxing. Especially if you were under stress
Secrets is a good option as well though it is more of a general resort. Both are in mexico which is like New York City in terms of safety (don't wander where you shouldn't) . If you're considering outside of Mexico, Sandals resorts has options on several islands. They're a bit more pricey but certainly worth it. You'll have a great time at any of those to be honest.
Go all inclusive. You both will have a great time. Most resorts go all out to make sure you have a good time because they work for the tips. At the end of your first night, your girl drinking and you guys dancing, leave waiter $10. They will fall all over themselves to wait on you the rest of your stay. You save so much money in the long run and the food is good. A lot like going on a cruise. Mexico is fine to visit. They don't want anything to happen to tourists, they need our money :)
All-inclusives are the best! You can literally eat and drink all you want. Both Cancun and Punta Cana are great destinations.
STAY AT AN ALL-INCLUSIVE GATED HOTEL AND YOU WILL BE FIND. DO NOT LEAVE IT AT NIGHT WITHOUT HAVEING A LARGE GROUP.
