Thinking of moving abroad?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
I'm 19 and looking to move abroad. I was looking at America but it just seems so much harder because of visas and stuff. I have an ok job and earn £800 a month. I'm looking for somewhere that's pretty cheap to live and where there's a good chance of me finding a decent job with not much experience. I only speak English but am open to learning

I have also heard that Australia is quite good any tips?

Thanks

no industrial nation is going to allow a 19 year old with no education or experience to emigrate and work. especially if you are limiting yourself to English speaking countries only.

The tough truth is there is not a country on earth that wants a 19 year old with no education or job skills. you will have a heck of a time finding a country to give you a work visa since unemployment is high everywhere. what you NEED to do is stay where you are, get a university education and prepare for a career that will provide you a good living. If you don't, in 10 years you will be still scratching away at the bottom of the barrel trying to find work that pays enough to live on and barely getting by. Make a success of yourself where you are and then travel when you can. Australia immigration is based on WORK SKILLS...you cannot possibly qualify. If you have the required savings on hand, you might want to do a working holiday visa in Australia for a year...but you need a large savings to get started. THEN, get the education you need.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, don't go to the USA. Terrible education standards without a lot of money, no healthcare so you'll have to pay for insurance, which may or may not cover you. Basically, if you're moving from Britain (and I don't know if you are) or the EU in general, you're in for a shock.

Australia is probably a better option.

Or somewhere in the EU, because you'll probably get something half decent in terms of what you're looking for.

Still, looking for a decent job with not much experience is probably asking too much wherever you are in the world.

At 19 you don't have the work experience or qualifications to emigrate to Australia. You could come for 12 months on a Working Holiday Visa which will allow you to travel around Australua picking up casual work to fund your travels. But, to get this visa you must have access to AU$5000 a return air ticket, and travel insurance. Check the Australian Government's Immigration website for more details.

Many of the major industrial countries don't really need people just showing up! If you don't have special skills and education they're not interested.
