Going on a 2 week vacation, laundry problem?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
Hi, I'm flying overseas for 2 weeks to Europe, and won't have the opportunity to do the laundry (it's way too expensive in the hotels, and we'll be moving from place to place a lot). It's nearly impossible to bring 2 weeks' worth of clothing, and we'll need to change everyday now that it's in the middle of summer; so if you guys are experienced travelers, I'd really appreciate any solutions/tips! Thanks!

You also ask your tour director where the self laundries are. You won't be too close sometimes. But to be sure to cut you clothing down to 5 days worth and wear each piece. at least twice. One of these 5 outfits should be in the carry-on. No one knows you, you won't ever see them again. Before you leave, be sure you try everything on. Mix and match and keep this record with you, just in case your luggage disappears.

European laundries are very different than those in the USA. So be sure you know how to use them (see Youtube), by noting the NUMBER on the machine, and then you input it at the central device that takes your money.

Take your own wash cloths too. European hotels will not provide such a personal thing for you.

Unless you're really stinky or mess up your clothes with food or something, just wear the same thing at least twice. And use deodorant of course. No one's gonna know. You could wash your clothes in the sink, but there's a high possibility they won't dry on time.

You wash things out at night in the bathroom! It helps to have lightweight, quick dry clothing. Just wash out with soap, rinse, role in a towel to get rid of excess water, and hang in bathroom to dry. You don't have to wear different clothes all the time, no one will take the slightest bit of notice.

There are self serve laundry places here and there but 2 weeks of washing things out by hand in a sink is not too hard to do. They dry fast in hot weather.

Unless your wardrobe is all suits or formal wear, I wouldn't worry about a few wrinkles after washing.

Most people dress very casual these days overseas so no worries about looking a bit rumpled.

Use a launderette. You'll find them on most high streets and resorts. They have driers too.

Purchase "Dr. Bronner's 18 in 1 soap" an wash it in a sink or something.

Rinse in washbasin, dry and wear again. I just had a week in Greece with three T shirts
