Also we are an averagly financed family so can't go to Australia/South America/ Caribbean as it costs a large amount of money! And nowhere violent or dangerous - such as lots of African countries as we don't want to be un-safe.
Any help would be fab - thanks!
I spent December in Cabo San Lucas, MX some years ago and the weather there was just super. It was not too hot or too cold. During daylight hours, it was mostly in the uppers 70s in December. We went swimming and marlin fishing on the Pacific, not on the Sea of Cortez, and the ocean was mostly calm.
I'm from South Africa, we don't ave many things but the climate is one things that sets us apart. Especially during Christmas time. It's warm and sunny and everyone is in a good mood.
Here's a link where you can book a holiday or get more information (copy and past url into browser):

I would also consider looking for somewhere that is not in Johannesburg or Durban, don't get me wrong it's beautiful places, but you need some street smart because they get quite crowded during the holiday period. Cape Town on the other hand is great, much more relaxed though.

Mike
You could try Tenerife or another Canary Island. They are cheap to fly to and stay in.
The temperature is more like average 16-18 Celcius though, but I have been at Christmas when the temperature was definately 20 Celcius plus.
Where I live Thailand.
And excuse me isn't the US a violent country in some parts? not the Utopia people think it is. I feel safer walking the streets of Bangcock than I do New York at night and yes I have been too both.
this should help
