It is growing so much that I even considered leaving the city's traffic and noise and moving there. It has nice beaches, especially the part a few miles down the road called Santa Clara. It has nice restaurants, golf, tennis, horseback riding and a big "gringo" community.
Panama has recently relaxed its immigration policies so it is now easier to become a permanent resident.
Not Panama City, no beaches worth using. About 1 1/2 hours west is Santa Clara. The good beaches start there and continue west past Coronado. They are building a new airport in Rio Hato. That area will be a tourist meca like Cancun, Mexico is now in a few years. Get in early if you like that area.Boca Chica over by David to the west has many possibilities too.
The capital city does not have beaches but has nightlife. Boquete and Volcan have the best climate but are not near beaches. Maybe in the Coronado area about an hour and a half from Panama City?
Take a look at David. There are many expats there and it has everything on your list, except the nearby beaches are more famous for surfing than sunbathing.

My wife and are are thinking of ran early retirement in Panama. My question is, where is the best place in Panama to retire? We are Americans, we both love the beach .. We prefer clean beaches and a place that has nice roads, super markets, some sort of night life etc....
