fighting for recognition, are the violent? And is it having an impact on Russian politics?
I'm having a hard time finding clear
answers that make sense. Thanks!
you are having hard time because the problem does not exist. Ukrainians in Russia were/are recognized as long as Russia exists. If you did not know about their existence, it does not mean we did not know. It is like, for example, blondes and brunettes, or people with M and L size of cloth, Ukrainians live in Russia for hundreds years (and vice a versa too), every second person in Russia has Ukrainian relatives/friends/coworkers.
I do not know what kind of recognition you talk about. They are part of Russian population who made enormous contribution toward our culture, traditions, etc... It is just impossible to imagine past or future or current time without them. So, sorry, do not create fake conflicts where they do not exist.
My family is divided by Russian-Ukrainian borders, "intermixing" has always been our thing. We don't need any kind of recognition, we themselves are the ones who have the exclusive right to recognize or not recognize things. My family, for one, does NOT recognize the f*ing borders. We're Rus', not just Ukrainians (formerly NovoRussians like one of my great-grandpas, and MaloRussians like another couple of my great-grandparents), not just Belarusians, not just Russians/VelikoRussians. We are the Rus'. We are one nation. And it's non of our concern what the rest of the world is trying to impose on sheeple. You can believe whatever the heck you want.
Oh, and one more thing. In Russia Ukrainians (except galicians) = Russians. End of story.
Wars = $$$$$$$$$$$. NATO had no purpose. But by courting Ukraine through EU, it managed to ignite a civil war.
Now NATO and west up to its good old war games!

'Gorbachev: US 'Triumphalism' Fueling New Cold War
Former Soviet leader: 'We need to return to the starting line when we began building a new world'
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article39133.htm "Cold War "could not have ended peacefully without Shevardnadze." But he and others are silent on the quid pro quo. The quid was Moscow's agreement to swallow the bitter pill of a reunited Germany in NATO; the quo was a U.S. promise not to "leapfrog" NATO over Germany farther East. Washington welched on the deal.
It began to unravel in October 1996 during the last weeks of President Bill Clinton's campaign for re-election. Mr. Clinton bragged that he would welcome Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic into NATO, explaining, "America truly is the world's indispensable nation" (and, sotto voce, can do what it wants).
Those three countries joined NATO in 1999, and by April 2009, nine more became members, bringing the post-Cold War additions to 12 ― equal to the number of the original 12 NATO states. The additional nine included the former Baltic Republics that had been part of the USSR, but not Ukraine. NATO intentions, however, were made clear at its summit in Bucharest in April 2008, which formally declared, "Georgia and Ukraine will be in NATO."
Even hawkish former American national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski now concedes, "It is reasonable for Russia to feel uncomfortable about the prospect" of Ukraine in NATO. And that is the nub of today's crisis there ― not the "chauvinistic fanaticism" Mr. Brzezinski attributes to Russian President Vladimir Putin."
The meddling by the west in Ukraine could have more consequences for the west longterm then Russia. The sun is setting in the west. 2008 banking crash didn't write off debt, but just loaded it onto the shoulders of the dwindling middle class tax payers! Not the big corporations who hide their massive zillion profits off shore. Not the mainstream media who profit by "selling conflicts/ wars". Not the government who suppress any uncomfortable questions by citing "terrorists" to clam down on own citizens!
American dream more akin to dead.

Perhaps those "donating" weapons are better versed as to why they are supplying a broke, in debt Ukraine.

Sorry, I have nothing to answer. I am half-Ukrainian citizen of Russia, but I do not fight for recognition.
By the way, which "recognition" are you talking about?
Russians are not killing people according to their ethnicity or nationality. that is Ukraines bailiwick.
