Because it is magnificently large, expansive and beautifully raw. It has a harsh beauty mixed with softness of light and mood at dawn and sunset. It has wide open spaces and creatures uinlike any other type of environment.
When I go to the desert, it's usually to take photos of the landscape, especially when the desert is in bloom. In some places, I look for owls living in the cactus.
Adventure and of course a learning trip. Besides, there are also great things to discover and find in the desert. In desert, you can appreciate the importance of water saving and the happiness an oasis could bring to people who are on travel in desert.
Only for adventure or for pain.
