For budget, Bangkok is a lot cheaper in every way. You will find exotic stuffs like Buddhist statues, ritual offerings infront of buildings, and some exotic castles/temples. On the other hand, it's less safer, a bit dirty, a bit unsafe, pretty chaotic (Especially the traffic).
Hong Kong is more expensive, but the life standard is a lot better, so expect a clean environment (Though it's not as clean as it was before due to too much tourists). HK gives you a taste of Cantonese culture which you might be familiar with at Chinatown. It's a lot more peaceful than Bangkok. Sadly, nowadays there's a lot of tourists from developing countries that can be a bit annoying. If a peaceful and safe enviroment is what you're after, then Hong Kong is a better choice.
As for China, I would suggest a tour guide would help a lot. China is a bit chaotic like Bangkok, but a lot cleaner, especially in metropolitan cities like Shanghai and Beijing.
It depends on why you want to go to either city truthfully.
Budget: Hong Kong is more expensive than Bangkok, all other things equal
All males: Bangkok is a better choice for bars, go go bars etc.
All females: Shopping and culture, toss up, leaning to Bangkok. What you find in Hong Kong I think you can find cheaper in Thailand.
Romantic: hmmmm Edge to Hong Kong if you are truly a city person. Lots of skyscrapers, clubs for couples, it's nicer in Hong Kong. Yet Bangkok has a lot to offer a couple if you don't mind it.
Cultural: Edge to Bangkok with all the Wats or temples, grand palace, etc. It's the center of culture and Theravada Buddihism for Thailand. Hong Kong has some temples, mount Victoria, and Disney HK eh
Watersports: There's Pattaya near to Bangkok and city life of Bangkok.

Depends on the expenses. Bangkok is definitely cheaper than Hong Kong for shopping. You can imagine a person with empty luggage to Bangkok and return with 2 luggage full of clothes. Junk food is cheap too.
Hong Kong is more to attraction (Disneyland, Oceanpark etc) & food. But is quite expensive compared. You can get almost all branded perfume or skin products here cheaper. If you are Asian and you speak the same language they are, they are rude to you. I've been there once and 10 person I met only 2 person is polite.
I found it difficult for us to find route when we ask local people there.
Depends on what you want. Bangkok is just insane. That city is CRAZY. One night in Bangkok will leave you emotionally scared for life. But in a good way. Hong Kong is fun too but it's a lot more expensive and not crazy in that sense. Very beautiful though. So it's up to you.
I have been to Bangkok twice and Hong kong 4 times. I love both but they are quite different. Parts of Bangkok are dirty but it is a much cheaper Country. Hongkong is a modern City.

They are both good places to visit. But I think Bangkok offer more in entertainment and sightseeing. While Hong Kong would be cheaper for shopping.
Bangkok is one of the best places to visit. Last week i returned from there. I was there with my family members and really enjoyed my holiday. I liked it the most. Some attractions which you must visit are:

Accommodation problems are also not a major issue. There are several online portals which offer list of hotels from which you can compare and choose the best one which suits your need and also comes in your budget. I usually prefer to choose and book hotels through Travel Spec. They provide list of the best hotels which make it easier to choose best one just from the comfort of home or office.
