Oh My God! You just said it! As far as my thoughts are concerned:
This universe is uncountable, unpredictable and insurmountable; apparently your question is not as small as it looks and neither is the answer. Time travel is something too much far away from the current knowledge level (information) on the science and technology. I suppose if it was possible, I would definitely like to go into the future. But there is no possibility to talk to myself at any means. If I travel time there would be only one of myself and the other would be replaced.
It may be true that each millisecond go down a different universe line. A millisecond meant for us probably being thousands of decades for some others. On the other hand, the duration we assume several light years perhaps be a fraction of a moment for some others on different universe line. I believe nothing is impossible.
i'm not really sure about time travel. if it was invented in the future then it would have been introduced to us by now because some greedy prick would go back in time to sell it to us. unless of course you could only go forward in time then we'll probably never know.
another Sign we don't have time travel is the economic and environmental peril we are in, if the government had time travel then they would go forward in time and ask the scientists of the future how they solved global worming. BUT! maybe the present was the stone age in another time line and time travel has worked as a kind of Evolution.

I don't think its impossible, why would someone intelligent enough who create time travel and successfully experience it share it with the world, if possible, why going to the future, with such esoteric capabilities why don't enjoy the present time, satisfaction of a individual's own presence is the universal line of its future.
