Canada, Latin American, HELL NO!!!!! That is like saying, America is a Latin American country because Spanish is the second most spoken language, Hell no it's not. You already know that it is not. Which I agree with you on that, so I can't you know start a argument with you because you already know the answer but here is my opinion why Canada will never be a Latin American country
I understand that French is a Latin language but, Canada most spoken and main language is English, French goes second. Also, French Canadian culture is more of a European type, while the Latino culture is more of their own. French Canadians have more of the White European. Latinos have more of their own, although, their culture at first was similar to the Native Americans but they really began using their own type of thing, rather than coping another race.
Latin America is not only a linguistic region but also a cultural one.
Quebec speaks French, but its culture is more like that of North America and Northwestern Europe than like that of Latin America.
A very important factor that must be taken into account when considering Latin American culture is the assimilation of Native American elements, which is far stronger south of the border than in the U.S. or Canada.
The Métis people of Canada are also a mixed people, but unlike Latin Americans, their culture is pretty much Native American with very little European influence, so they don't qualify either.
While French is a Latin based language, Americans use the phrase "Latin American" to indicate Spanish speaking people - and the Portuguese of Brazil. In that sense, Canada is not Latin American. And, French is a minority language here, spoken by 1/4-1/3 of the population only.
Canada is a member of la francophonie, as well as the Commonwealth - I think we are the only nation that belongs to both.
Quoi? Mais non! Québec est totalement différent!
I'm a Quebeca living in Costa Rica and nope! It is different.
I agree, French is near of Spanish, but the culture is really different.
Ticos have a "pura vida" culture, relax and they really enjoy nature and family, have a great respect for spiritual things.
Québecos, are stressful, they work hard, don't take time to be with the family anymore and they don,t like spiritual things...
So, no, Canada cannot be a Latin America Country.
No its not.
uh..NO!
Well I'm just wondering because in Quebec people speak French. I know that the English took over and Quebec is the only place the speak French and the rest of the country speaks English. I know that is not a Latin America country i just want to know your Opinion.
