"Isn't very expensive" and "Hawaii" are words that down't belong within 50 feet of each other. Hawaii is very expensive. Go on a cruise, or go to Key West. Key West isn't that cheap either, but it has the best vibe of any place I've ever been. Totally laid back, excellent restaurants, and just a really cool place to hang out. I've been to Hawaii 3 times, Key West twice. I sort of prefer Key West.
Hawaii is expensive. Expensive to get there, and is always top 10 most expensive places to live. I love it there, but bare minimum $60/day (sleeping in a hostel). Surfing is worth it to me and flights are cheap though :) (EDIT: Flights are cheap for ME, normally $2k or more)

Try central america. Costa Rica, Nicaragua. Probably just some nice, relatively cheap place to fly to will work for you-the creativity is all on you :)
Niagara falls would be better. I would/want to go there. Hawai'i isn't all sunshine and smiles like in the media you know. Too much people get dissappointed when they come here Lol.
my vote is for niagara falls (canadian side).... book a hotel with falls view... lots of activitiess like ferry ride (under $20), wax museum, haunted house (must if u visit niagara). u can even get a helicopter ride for almost $99.
