For me, the best place was right here at home in the US: Maui, Hawai'i. It's a beach destination and you can do almost anything from hiking, swimming, diving, snorkeling, mountain climbing, surfing, windsurfing, and even snow skiing!
.
I did a 9 month round the world trip years ago, and since then have tried to visit a different country every year.
It depends what you enjoy in a holiday.
My favourite recent trip was to Peru. I did a 3 week tour around southern Peru (Lima, Amazon jungle, Cusco, Machu Pichhu, Lake Titicaca, Nazca lines, Ballestas Islands etc) Absolutely amazing country- fantastic scenery, lovely people, great food etc)
I went to Australia 12 years ago for 3 months. I loved it, and its the only country I would seriously consider emigrating to. Great weather, friendly people, relaxed outdoor lifestyle, good standard of living.
The most unusual but cool place i visited was Raratonga (one of the Cook Islands) Again, it was years ago, but at the time it was really cheap (I stayed in a hostel on the beach for less than 1 euro a night) and unspoiled.
For adventure go to New Zealand (bungee jumping, white water rafting, sky diving, rap jumping, zorbing etc)
For culture and a completely different view on life try India (it certainly made me appreciate what I've got and realise that the NHS in UK is actually pretty good!
I could go on for ages!! The more places you visit, the more you want to see. Next on my list are a safari in Africa, and China.
Just see and do as much as you can in life.
Almost all of Europe, all the countries of North America, Bermuda, St Maarten, Aruba. I live in Italy now and have a home in Colorado.
I don't have a favorite place. There are interesting things to see and do everywhere you might go. I can't remember ever visiting somewhere that I wouldn't be glad to go back to.
What to do depends on exactly where and when you go. I especially like going for local festivals to learn something about the local traditions and culture in the places visited. Local foods are also interesting.
England (I live here) - its cold and rainy unles it's summer, but a nice country if you visit the right parts
Spain (a few times) - beautiful weather in the summer, nice to relax on holiday and by the pool, nice holiday destination
Greece (once) - nice but a bit frightening and not a great holiday destination
France (several times) - warm, lots of country roads etc, nice people
MUST VISIT PLACES FOR ME:
America & Caribbean
I regularly visit Indonesia for my yearly vacation and I can say that I love the place so much. I've been a regular patron for this particular villa that they know what I like and want when I stay in their place.
I have been to China and the USA. The USA was the best because I was happy to be in my home country and I could run in my back yard, buy video games and enjoy the freedom I don't have in China. ahh, really miss the USA :)
I have been to India, don't go it smells, its dirty and it has elephants walking down the street!
