I would say go on a trip but that depends if a friend is coming along or not. If not, does it make you feel any less happy going on your own (including parents)? if the answer is yes, then you should probably have a party instead, where all your closest friends would be invited. Otherwise, if you think you'll enjoy being on your own then go for the trip.
Heads up, last I went on a trip with my mom and my little sister all my mom did was stay in and go grocery shopping and talk on the phone as if we haven't left our country and we barely had the chance to go site seeing. Within 30 mins of when we began, my mom got tired and wished to go back to the hotel. PLUS, the hotel you'll be staying in matters as well. Not just the price but the built (size) and where it is located in the city you wish to go. Doesn't even have to be a hotel, motels are just as good if located in the centre of the city and much cheaper. Best
Vacation/trip for sure! Unless you're really popular or have a ton of friends and a good location for the party, sweet sixteens, to me, are never going to be like the ones on tv or as good and big as you think. I mean, you may dance or hang out with friends, eat a cake... not much. I think a trip would be fun and a great experience.
