Your beach options are not that great in Livingston. Puerto San Jose is much better. Even better than Puerto San Jose, check out Monterrico. There are a lot of good beach options there. They aren't the nicest beaches in Central America, but I enjoy them a lot.
To Eat ! Drink! And Party i say Puerto San Jose ......... do not do Livingston or Monterrico. ...... :)

There are a few bars at the center of town in san jose. Go there. Oh and watch out for aids
