Colombia is safer...Mexico is what Colombia was 20 years ago. Colombia is one of the most biodiverse countries on earth- just google it! The Amazon, desert, jungles, mountains, and world class cities (Bogota) make it a beautiful place to visit. Not to mention the people! The people there are quite possibly the friendliest people you will meet, I know from experience :) . And it is said that Colombian people speak the most beautiful Spanish, so without a doubt, I say Colombia!

I highly recommend Colombia what Deanna said is so true and it is one of the most beautiful countries in South America. I say this from experience. I am half Colombian and the people in Colombia are Amazing and the food is also amazing. El museo de oro is very beautiful and I highly recommend it. Colombia is AMAZING!!!

Actually Mexico's economy has been improving a lot now and the violence that Alan is say is going down. He is just a stereotype that thinks Mexico is full of drugs and violence. Look at U.S.A its not perfect so dont go saying things about another country. Also Mexican people are very nice and helpful they love parting with different cultures.

I'm from Colombia I went back recently to visit my family is not as bad as it used to be but you are right Mexico is worse is Columbia ever was now

I suggest neither one of them, violence is abundant in both countries. try backpacking Costa Rica, the people are friendly and accommodating, the weather is amazing, the wildlife is breath taking.
