See below. latin america is NOT a continent, but the term refers to those countries in North and south america that speak spanish or Portugues....that means all the countries of south america, The Central american region, and Mexico. Central america is not a continent but is the region between north and south america. as you can see from the map, the continent of Europe is across the Atlantic ocean from north America.
