Is L.A a nice place to live?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
I'm from Van city Canada, and im sure it would be a night and day difference if i moved there because the weather is hotter, it barely rains, and also the states is quite a bit different from Canada. Thing is, unfortunately i love hot weather but i have to deal with the weather here because i was raised here. My first impression of where to move is LA, because its close to the ocean and overall seems like a great place. It has lots of great neighbourhoods, Beverly hills, hollywood etc. Therefore i am amost positive my future will be spent in LA or around southern Cali.. But because it is so different from Vancouver, i need to be 100% sure i wanna go there.

First: I am equally 100% certain that it will not be the paradise that you envision. It is <> crowded. It might take you two hours to drive to the beach from your apartment, and after you get there, there will be 10,000 other people on the beach at the same time.

It will take you two hours to drive there because you cannot afford to live in any place that is closer to the beach. It is <> expensive. Beverly Hills is a nice enough town, but you will only be able to live there if you make $3 million/year, or more.

You really need to take several visits, for a week or more, at different times of the year to see how you really like it, rather than simply imagining that you do. YOu will quickly learn about how costly it is, and how crowded, noisy, messy it is.

Second: You cannot simply move to the US, get a job and live here. There is a complicated and time consuming procedure that you would need to go through to get the proper permits to live and work. The best way to do that is to get a job with a US company who needs your specific knowledge, talent and skill in the LA operations. They can then sponsor you for a green card.

What special, unique job qualifications do you have? Bartending does not count, nor does being a waiter or a wannbe actor. LA is filled to the brim with those kinds of people.

I don't think L.A. is a safe place to live unless you live in the west L.A. where the wealthy people live. But L.A. do have very nice weather there and a lot sunlights like 300 days a year and the beaches are very beautiful.

Here's an answer found for a future arrival at Fountain Valley.

Google Earth download gave me the central point within the

requested location without my direction. From that point

and with provided tools my answer was:

0.88 Kilometers (k) north. Mile Square Regional Park. Strut and play golf at same time.

2.64 k SE. Concrete channel of Santa Ana River. Watch from bridges when flooding occurs.

3.00 k NW. Concrete channel of drainage from Twin Lakes Recreation Area. Romantic swards.

4.66 k SW. Huntington Beach Central Park. Lakes and grassy area with trees. Near ocean.

8.54 k south. Pacific Ocean with parking, sandy shore, waves, boating, and swimming.

Fountain Valley is above the Huntington Beach Oil Field. Interested in the petrol industry ?

Suggestion: Purchase bicycle to tow Ocean Kayak Scrambler on wheels to lakes and ocean.

Face the reality that you cannot get a visa to live in the USA. Vancouver is considered a much more desirable city to live in, by world opinion.

freezing pipes? road salts? snow blowing? 4 layers of pants? but we do have-congestion, higher prices but no SNOW!!!!!!
