What qualifies a 3rd world country
Indonesia is a very good country to visit, espiecally because it's a developing county with many many friendly people. The people are very happy even though they don't have much and only get a few bowls of rice a month. The children look really nice in the villages and you'll meet some village elders who always have a smile.
A good mission? I think it matters as to what sort of help you are capable of giving to others? Different places have different needs. I live in Thailand which is Buddhist and having spent much of my life living in USA, I fully believe that even poor people here [ there is no hunger or desperate poverty ] have a happier life than most middle class in the west - - If you came here to teach them English or something that might improve their job oppts, then fine - if you think you will teach them a better path through life - don't be so sure. What are your motives? If you do this solely out of the kindness of your heart, looking for nothing in return, absolutely nothing, not to change their religion which works pretty well for them - you are tops.
