Gifts for Cusco Children?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
I am from Perú, and I had the pleasure to travel to Cusco, which is my favorite City in the World.

Clothes and shoewear are pretty cheap and common here (as cheapa as in China), I would say to bring toys. over here orphanages get second-hand stuff, including toys, which is usually headless barbies, or deteriorated legos. If you could bring a couple of dolls, that would be much appreciated, and used for years in that place.

Thanks for doing charity, and enjoy your time in Cusco. btw, if you have time, visit Machu Picchu!!

School/academic stuff, most likely. Pencils, notebooks, pens, stationary, etc. Stuff that gets used up and has to be replaced often. Those costs can add up. Jump ropes and flip flops are cheap enough in Peru and there are only so many that a kid can go through in one year.

Notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons.

Also glow-in-the-dark bracelets or light sticks. Marbles, stickers, magazines with pictures in them.

The best bet is to go to your local dollar store and look around.

Not flip-flops, not jump ropes (both are cheap and common in Peru.)

Definitely not candy!

Winters are not as cold as tge north in usa but cold enough thay every year many died. Get them jackets or shoes.

shoes, maybe candy

I am traveling to Cusco, Peru to work in an orphanage soon. I want to take some things to give to the children while I am there. I will have no way of contacting the orphanage and asking what they suggest until I get in Peru. So I have to buy them before I go.

Any suggestions? :)

P.S : I am looking for things that are easy to pack and cheap. (Flips flops, jump ropes, etc.) thanks! :)
