Is this fact or fiction and why is this so..
Fiction. Chile peppers are eaten the world over.
The word for chili pepper in Chile is "ají". The word "chili"/"chilli"/"chile" is a Nahuatl word from Mexico, and we're quite aware of the coincidence.
Many people eat chili here in Chile, but I'm not one of them, I can't stand spicy food. The most famous variety is called "cacho de cabra" (lit. "goat's horn").
There's a Chilean sauce called "pebre", it's usually made from chili, onions, coriander, garlic, tomato, oil, vinegar, etc.
Another Chilean sauce is called "chancho en piedra", and it's made of tomatoes, coriander, garlic, cumin, pepper, green chili and other ingredients, all of which are crushed on a stone and blended together with oil.
There's also a Mapuche (native people from Chile) spice called "merkén", it's made mainly from dried, smoked, powderized chili, with some salt and coriander seeds, and has grown in popularity during the last few years.
I guess you need some geography lessons.
My question to you is..do you think people in Turkey eat turkey?

Do people from Chile eat chile?
Some do, some don't. I can't agree whether it's fact or fiction since it would depend on the person or what food they were grown eating to. I find this question to be a stereotype kind of question.
A lot of recipes don't include it because it's usually just added to your individual plate. Plus, they're called aji here, not chile.
Even though there a Latin country, they really don't eat much spice from my experince there, but they do put avacado on alot of things
