My family squabbles relentlessly, so since I'm 26 and have a great job, I was thinking of taking a holiday over Christmas. I live in Canada and don't want to go too far away. I have a friend who lives in London and he won't be there during Christmas holidays and I want to visit London when he's there. I'd like to go to Iceland, butworry that the days will be too short.

Wherever I go, I'd like to do some hiking (I like winter hiking) and checking out natural and cultural sights.

It depends. There's not much direct sunlight, but you have over an hour of dusky glow on either end of the sun being up. The city's all lit up bright, especially around Christmas (power is cheap and clean here, so people sort of go crazy with it). And of course in winter you can get the northern lights, there's less tourists, things are cheaper, and you get the greater contrast between the hot waters and the cold air.
