I love tropical areas too! It's just pleasure for both your eyes and feelings.
Well, I guess the money you've saved is still there. Try to catch the first chance for going anywhere, try to plan the vacation, and just tell them you found someone to take care about your dog. (not killing it, for sure).
Anyways, I live in europe. It depends on what do you like. Europe, USA and Asia are so different. In Europe it's the most historical, in many countries. For example in my country, Czech Republic, capital city Prague, it's just whole city so old and beautiful. But if you like hot weather etc, I really would go to Hawaii, Crete or just south anywhere. Europe isn't anything special, and it's not like I live here.
It's one horrible language right next to other one, 50% of people can't even speak english... And the rest can't speak very well, only like 15% can speak well in Europe, basically.
I would definitely go to another place than Europe :)
The best times of the year to vacation in Costa Rica is February, because the weather is good on both the Pacific and Caribbean sides on the country, which keep all your options open. Plus, road travel is not slowed in the dry season by rain storms, wash-outs, landsides, or multi-car accidents.
Maybe there is more to it than they are telling you. Maybe its money or sickness or a phobia that one of them has.
Take what you are given. You can always visit Costa Rica as an adult. Or why don't you study abroad there for a semester or two and really learn Spanish? It is so much better to be able to speak another language besides English - it really opens up your whole world.
Spend some time researching about the biology, ecology, environment and wildlife and show them how much there is to learn there. Sell it as an educational opportunity!
For like 2-3 years now my parents have been talking about going on vacation to Costa Rica. My mom bought a Costa Rica book and planned out the whole thing and really got my hopes up. We we're suppose to go this summer and then we didn't because my mom said it was hurricane season. Instead my parents started planning a vacation to Europe because I always wanted to go. However, I was trying to be considerate and save money for Costa Rica so I turned down Europe and we didn't go which they err fine with cuz they only wanted to go for me. Then my mom said we would go to Costa Rica over thanksgiving break and that didn't happen apparently because we couldn't find anyone to watch our dog which is a ridiculous excuse. I'm so frustrated I turned down Europe to go on a vacation we aren't even going on! What really upsets me is that my parents are suddenly ignoring anything that has to do with Costa Rica and when I bring it up they act like they don't even know what I'm talking about. I'm just really disappointed and I'm finding it hard to get excited about going to Vermont or Canada because I really just want to go somewhere tropical! I've never been anywhere like Costa Rica I don't understand why my parents would rather go to somewhere boring then go on a topical vacation with animals and zip lining and beaches! I don't even care if it's not Costa Rica like anywhere tropical, Hawaii, bora bora, Jamaica , like anywhere tropical is fine...we'll I'm sorry for ranting I'm just upset
