Quantum physics. Every cool sci-fi thing boils down to quantum physics.
Particles have "states". In order to legitimately teleport things, we need to know the "state" of every single subatomic particle in the object. I believe we have teleported a few electrons a few kilometers or so.
Sadly, I don't think this type of teleportation is the type you're looking for. I think that type is truly impossible.
Hmm.. Interesting question. Here is what I have devised over the years.
1) Have your mind blank/clear
2) Be totally relaxed
3) Use your cat, dog, mouse (any house pet) to try this out first
4) Get Vacuum(s) and connect them from x (your starting point) to y (your destination point)
5) Get a black hole from space
6) Plant black hole in a random spot in between the vacuums
7) When you're done with 6 get your pet and set it as close to the vacuum cleaner in room or place x as possible.
8) Turn on Vacuum
9) Your pet will be sucked through countless vacuums and a black hole that reverses time & space
10) Your cat will end at spot y (desired room or place)
That's as close as you can get.
Well scientifically... No. But you can buy the game portal and teleport in that, or use your imagination and "teleport to another realm"
