Anchor text keywords are understood to be useful for keyword optimization, some have reported that internal keywords anchor text appearing in you navigation menu system may be the most useful ones, people work at getting anchor text links from other sites, but a very high percentage of thee will be judged SEO spam.
Out of content I am unclear what your report is talking about, is it that there is no Competition for the keyword Chinese, therefore there is no point in trying to rank for it?
There is a lot of guesswork on the part of these automated tools, I would not worry about that piece of advice, it seems perfectly correct to have the term for your alternate language version, in face "Chinese Version" as the anchor text would provide Google more useful information.
In search engine optimization, anchor text keyword has a lot importance. So provide Chinese keyword with any symbol. This is the most affordable way to choose in your situation.
I think you need to get an SEO expert to look at it. There are plenty of affordable SEO companies out there that can have a quick look and solve this problem to save you having to risk doing something to your website you didn't want to do. I used a program called IBP to generate a report of my website and one of the results was this:
Keyword use in same domain link URLs
Moderately Important
Links connect one web page to another. Same domain links are the links in attributes that point to other pages on the same domain. This chapter examines if search terms in same domain link URLs are relevant to Google.com.
Example: The HTML tag Contact information contains the same domain link URL "contact.htm".
Search term: "chinese"
Competitors Your Site Advice
Number of keywords: all 0 1 Remove the search term "chinese". <<
Keyword density: all 0% 100% It seems to be better to remove the search term "chinese". <<
Can someone tell me what that means? I have a link on the site "Chinese" which if you click on it takes you to a Chinese version of the page. How can I remove the word "chinese" from that link? If I did, what could I call it? I don't really get this.
