what kind of modeling agency asks you to bring your own digital camera to a test shoot? Just sayen
I've been in the industry for 13 years and have never heard of them. That doesn't mean they are fake but they are not one of the big players. They could be new or very small
Their website has only been up since August http://whois.domaintools.com/dorfmodels....
The people on their site don't look like runway/editorial models so they could be a commercial agency for 'real people'
The address they list in Miami doesn't seem to exist on Google maps unless it's a typo
There is no agency by that name listed on the DIR database and by law all model and talent agencies in the state of California are required to hold a valid license
http://www.dir.ca.gov/databases/dlselr/t...
Call the agency and ask for their license number as they may be registered under a different name and just doing business as Dorf
There is also no agency by that name listed on the Florida DBPR database and again all companies acting as model and talent agents in Florida are required by law to hold a valid license
https://www.myfloridalicense.com/wl11.as...
Again, ask them for their license number in Florida
And remember, it's illegal in both California and Florida for an agency to charge upfront fees
As long as you have verified they hold a valid license in both California and Florida; you go to one of their offices to be seen, measured and have a test shoot (at NO cost to you); have a lawyer review any contract before you sign it; and verify that they are only making money after they book you on a job then take their commission then it's going to be fine
No, they are not real. They are a fake company that makes themselves look real but then steals the bank information of their models, and most likely, their identity so they can continue to use "fake" money. And now my credit is ruined because of them. If you get approached by a man named Jerald Dean, avoid by any means necessary.
the company is real and is operating, ive been on 6 shoots in 3.5 months. these guys deliver what they tell you. If you get a card or get to talk to one of them then stick to it with them. Ive done 2xist, GearBest, did a magazine ad for college sports uniforms, and several other ones. THEY ARE WORTH IT!! VERY FRIENDLY STAFF AND ROBERT THE MENS DIRECTOR IS AWESOME and will work with u if u ever have a ? or problem!!
95% of those agencies charge the student or client $ and the client never gets a penny back.
if you want to be a top model, use the net and create your own biz. Send your pics to those
who would call agencies to hire you.
No, it unequivocally is not. My bank account is currently in the negative $1200 because of the fraudulent checks written to me by Jerald Dean (AKA Jerry Franklin Rogers) and will be closing as soon as I have paid the deficit. The director of the men's department, one Robert Martin, is very clearly the same person behind an alias as Jerry Rogers upon even the most cursory examination of their email habits.
Jerry Franklin Rogers is a rapist (myself and three others can attest to this personally) and a scam artist (COUNTLESS testimonies here.) He's not exactly physically dangerous, as long as you don't drink anything he gets you (which would be on your own tab anyways. Broke ***) but if you see him, (I've tagged his mugshot) call the police. He has over 12 arrests on his record, from identity theft to bank fraud, credit card fraud and harassment (nearly had to file this myself) etc., with varying degrees of conviction--some dropped, some successful, some plead guilty. I've attempted to add aggravated sexual assault to his record, but despite the FOUR IDENTICAL CASES the detective who heard my case told me she heard from other people, she maintains that rape isn't proveable. The future of her position is in question.
Anyways. I'm pretty sure the 'mark' profile who commented supportingly on this question IS Jerald. He answered three months ago, which is right around the time I threw his **** into the fan by going to the Dallas Voice (also attached) and right around the time of the GearBest shoot for which I was also scheduled, which involved a trip to Atlanta, ZERO funds, no hotel or food for three days, and finding out that I was the only model on the 'shoot' (which was, of course, cancelled last minute, the morning it was supposed to occur.)
Some models were actually paid, which lends his scam a confusing air of validity, but that sorted itself out quick enough as well. He illegally obtains bank info (see: bank fraud, identity theft, etc.) and writes checks based on that. Edward Whitley, the corporate attorney who guided me through the steps of going public with my story, somehow had his account info stolen by Jerald, but caught it in time to put a hold on his account, so that the checks written wouldn't be withdrawn (which explains why they bounced.) He and I have corroborated and connected charges from his account with checks written to me or other models by Jerald. This asshole won't get by dodging the serious crimes by hopping cities for long, he'll be showing up on federal radar soon enough.
To answer your question, if it hasn't been yet--the detective herself told me, in no uncertain words, that Dorf models was "In no way a valid agency, nor Jerald a valid agent." That's not verbatim, but it's very close. If you see him, please, on my behalf the behalf of the many people he's not only scammed, but sexually assaulted, please call the police.
