I have since gone on to build many websites in WP for myself and for clients. I find it easy to maintain and you can do pretty much any type of website with WP. For ecommerce site, I use shopping cart templates, and you can get your store set up so much faster then with Zen cart or OS Commerce.
Not being a coder, I can still get into source files and make some sense out of it. With some help, I do my own customization on theme and plugin files. For user-friendliness, CMS and SERP, Wordpress is hard to beat. I am interested in using other platforms but my time can be better spent on WP.
For a small, basically static website with only a few pages, I highly recommend using something other than the major CMS products as they are overkill for small websites. You should check out Barebones CMS:

Which was specifically built for scenarios like yours. It might be slightly beyond your current level of expertise, but there is a lot of fantastic documentation available including a few step-by-step getting started videos.
But, as I always say, use whatever tool is appropriate for the job.
Alex is telling you true. The biggest point in favor of WP is that it has an enormous support database and since it constantly evolving, the security problems are resolved very quickly...not like Joomla, where several hosting companies openly state their refusal to host Joomla site
Wordpress is seo friendly and most of the people are using wordpress, it has thousands of free themes and plugins, you must use Wordpress for better response from SEO.
Wordpress is definitely the best.
What are the advantages and disadvatages of these three main CMS'S. I am debating which CMS i should use i like to hear your thoughts before i select. I am intending for my website to be about only 1 or 2 pageslong. it's not a blog site. I know some html and css but i know absolutely nothing about php which i know is used in the majority of Wordpress. Just like to hear your opinions
