Is it cheaper to buy a day travel card each off peak or the Oyster card each (Auto capping)

Oyster. The daily cap is now significantly below the price of a day Travelcard - ￡6.40 in Zone 1 as opposed to ￡12. This is no doubt a deliberate policy to make people use Oyster! You have to pay ￡5 deposit for each card, but this is refundable.
