I have always found Malaga to be quite pleasant, even in October. However, whenever I visited family in the Andalusian mountain villages just to the north, I noticed the temperatures sometimes varied greatly between day and night, just as they do in Madrid where even during the summer nights can be chilly.
Certainly, yes, if you are in the mountains, or the north.
If you're going to beach areas, you will probably be able to swim, maybe a day or two...more if you are lucky.
Hot? Not really, but probably warmer than the UK.
It should be, at worst, shirtsleeve weather, or you could catch rain.
When I went to Malaga in December it was really pleasant. neither hot nor cold.
Now in april the weather is likely to be mildly better.
