All the trees were cut down to make warships in the 1500's, so there are none left. At least not decent log-sized ones.
Also the native trees tended to be more deciduous like oak, ash etc. with irregular shapes than conifers that make nice cylindrical logs you can just stack up.
Other factors -there are no earthquakes so unreinforced brick and stone work OK, and the climate is mild so you don't need great thick walls to keep the cold out.
Maybe you think wooden frame building. But not log building.
I am businessman from Latvian, I own log building company.Right know i am participating in Ecobuild 2015 at London (EXCEL). We have example made from big logs. A lot of people comes by admires and admits that they have never seen something like that in their lives. We also have a catalog with lot of beautiful log houses. Those houses are meant for normal living, but it looks like those people cant accept it. UK people thinks that from wood you can only build small cabins, not normal houses. But I just do not understand why? Because in Swiss, Italy, Nordic countries, Baltic states, Russia, Canada, Poland, Germany etc. it is absolutely normal to have log house.
Of course there are log buildings in UK. You have not done your research properly - check this

Rudolfs, bad news - there are so many other log house companies already in UK, that you will find a lot of competition, and very hard to make a profit.
Loads of log buildings in the UK mostly holiday homes
There are plenty in Scotland, I don't know about England.
Wood burns. They probably had some problems with that in the cities way back in the day so they decided that stone/ masonry is better lol
There are plenty of timber buildings.
There are much better and cheaper alternatives.
