Kingdom of the Netherlands
Countries with own governments and priminister (the King is the head of state)
- Netherlands (main language Dutch)
- Curacao (Papiamentu, Dutch)
- Aruba (Papiamentu, Dutch)
- Sint Maarten (English, Dutch)
special overseas municipalities
? Saba (English, Dutch)
? Sint Eustatius (English, Dutch)
? Bonaire (Papiamentu, Dutch)
All these territories have a Dutch passport and are EU citizens. They can travel and settle in the European Union.
Papiamentu is a language a mix of Portugese, Spanish, English and Dutch.
The Island St. Maarten/St. Martin is the only place where the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of France share a borderline together.
The countries above France are more than one. Theyare 3 different sovereignties and they were used to be called BENELUX from the first letters of their names. BElgium, Netherlands, LUXemburg.
The first two are Kingdoms while the 3rd is a Grand Duchy. All 3 are now the seats of important institutions such as the EU and the International Court.
Netherlands had major territories in many parts of world some of which they still hold.
The kingdom of the Netherlands is lovely.
The dutch antilles are Aruba, bonaire, Curacao, Saba, st eutatius and st maarten.
They are too small to be a country themselves, and they have all kinds of fancy semi-autonomous statuses. I think most of them now are considered "special municipalities" of the netherlands. IIRC Aruba and Bonaire have their own language, called Papiamentu on one, and Papiamento on the other
Is ABOVE BELGIUM, in Europe, with NO border with France, and yes parts are scattered around the world..OLD colonies....
